BLACK BIRD - A Darkly Humorous Action Game
BLACK BIRD is an action-packed shooting game developed by Onion Games for the Play Station 5 platform. The game is set in a darkly humorous world where a young girl dies and is reborn as the ominous Black Bird. As the calamity, players must destroy the kingdom and uncover the mysteries that shroud the fairytale-like exterior.
The game features a unique audio/visual mix that synchronizes the enemies' movement with the operatic soundtrack sung in a bizarre, fictional language, creating a truly unique experience. The visuals recall a classic era of gaming and portray a rich, picture book world, while completing each stage reveals more of the game's mysteries. BLACK BIRD also offers eight different endings, and a high score is the key to unlocking the story's secrets. Players' skill will guide how the story concludes.
Additionally, BLACK BIRD offers extra features such as True Mode, new enemies, hidden bonus characters, and more. Players can learn the combo system, bomb system, and hidden characters, then mix and match to find their own playstyle. The game received two awards at BitSummit Vol.6, including the grand prix prize and the Excellence in Audio Award, making it the best indie game from Japan in 2018.
